beautiful within...

I lay down on the terrace arms & legs stretched, staring at the vast sky trying to relax. Thoughts were moving in & out haphazardly, even the most chaotic traffic jam in the world is bliss.

I found myself trying to answer a question randomly picked from the realm of chaos, “Is there anything in this world that a human-mind can draw parallel to?”

While I was trying to answer that, I realised the answer lay right in front of my eyes. The sky best represents the fabric of the human mind. There was consensus from all corners of myself.

The thunderstorm, lightening & hail represent phases of confusion, frustration, anger and other emotions of breakdown, of varying degrees with respective magnitudes of downpour, thunder, lightening…

The monsoon rain represents phases of sorrow, grief… where the downpour is proportional to the tears from the eyes. Once the sorrow is perspired from within, everything returns back to normal.

The drizzle represents the experience of extreme joy from within that result in small bursts of tears.

Well… the above is just limited to human emotions influenced by the mind. There is definitely much more to the human-mind. While I was trying to answer that there was a slow drift & a few seconds had conveyed the message of a lifetime. I was perturbed; there was immediate acceptance from within myself to harsh realities.

I was trying to stare at the blank sky seeking clarity from within. I experienced the blankness only for a fraction-of-a-second and immediately saw a lot of clouds popping up from all sides. The clouds represented thoughts, worries… and they only multiplied in time, and I was trying to flush them out of sight, never really happened. This clearly conveyed to me we are all bound to Karma.

While I was trying to understand this better, I noticed groups of birds flying across the sky synchronized with chirps from an invisible bird perched in the tree. It was a very beautiful experience, unexplainable but I started experiencing bliss.

I realised, in life while we are always trying to answer various questions from within & chasing something, we fail to notice the small beautiful things. I hung my head in shame trying to recollect all that I’d missed while chasing something professionally, academically, socially and otherwise. I had defeated the purpose of doing something by failing to see the better things in life. I realized that experience alone matters, not the results. If we fail to stop & enjoy the experience why should we even be doing it? By not enjoying the experience, we are only reducing ourselves to mechanical creatures. How different from a tool are we then? Are we not just like a sickle or hammer? What is the difference between the sickle & farmer; or blacksmith & hammer?

While I was doing an introspection of my realisation, an aeroplane cut across the sky with roaring sound & bright lights, the sight of the birds slowly faded out, so did the bliss I was experiencing. I was irritated at this sight… how dare the aeroplane interrupt my thoughts? I tried to withdraw the irritation to justify the learning’s made seconds ago. The aeroplane looked beautiful to me, the bright lights interested me. Was the aeroplane being an irritant? Or was I looking at it as an irritant? The pilot was doing his job of flying the plane & I was here irritated seconds ago, and now amused at myself.

The day had dawned & I rose with the learning made from the moments of twilight still in my mind, looking forward to a beautiful day.
